Then, I was bored one day with only my laptop to amuse me, and I remembered the whole idea. I was like "fuck I should really write this," and I started typing it up.
I hereby present Civil Protection: Renegade.
It details the exploits and travels of Alan Eurovich, a resentful City 17 citizen who joined Civil Protection to make a new life for himself.
It takes place at the same time as Half-Life 2, but begins some time before Gordon Freeman (read: MIT geek with a crowbar) arrives.
I have the story split into chapters, but since each one is too long to be read in a single readthrough (this goes to all them tl;dr pplz out there), each chapter is split into segments, which are basically defined by suitably lengthy paragraphs.
Anyway, stop reading this, and go read the story, and give comments on what I should improve.
EDIT: Oh, whoops. I intended Alan Eurovich to be around 25 years old when CP:R begins, but my friend pointed out that only ten years passed between the Black Mesa Incident and the beginning of HL2, when I thought it was 20. If Alan Eurovich was five or six at the time of the Black Mesa Incident, and ten years passed, that would make him about 15 years old. MAJOR FUCK UP. However, I can't be bothered to edit the story, and to be honest, it really doesn't affect the main story except for people saying "man it's been 10 years since black mesa fucked up, how've you been?", so hurr.
EDIT: I forgot to mention this earlier. My friend is writing a parallel story to mine, so this is his account link: [link] . Nyaa~

Anyhow, thank you for your kind commentary about the story! I appreciate it!
